While shadowing Melanie I learned that one of the main parts of nursing is charting every single thing about the patient: when they eat, their bowel movements, skin color, vitals, medications, etc. It took Melanie hours to record her patient information into the program they use at St. Joe's, so for my demonstration I decided to create a new nurse's chart that I believe will be more effective. I narrowed it down to the most important things that should be recorded that way nurses are able to devote more of their time to helping the patients.
